Note
Attic ventilation, and why roofers keep raising it
The cheapest thing you can do during a re-roof, and the one most likely to be skipped.
Get quotes instead
Three questions, up to three contractors, nothing charged.
You are on the list.
No provider in Buena Park is taking requests through this service yet. We are lining them up, and yours is kept until one can.
- Nobody gets your details yet. Your request stays with us and is not passed to any company.
- One email when someone can help. When a provider covering your area can take it on, we email you once and ask whether you want that company, by name, to contact you.
- Deleted after 90 days. If nobody can take it on, or you do not say yes, your contact details are deleted 90 days after your request.
- You decide, or you do not. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to pay us.
Nobody will call you about this request unless you say yes to a company by name.
Two openings, in balance
A roof needs air coming in low at the eaves and leaving high at the ridge. Intake and exhaust have to be roughly balanced; more exhaust than intake simply pulls conditioned air out of the house.
What happens without it
Trapped heat cooks the covering from underneath and takes years off it. Trapped moisture condenses on the deck, and over enough winters that softens the sheathing. In cold climates it is also what turns roof snow into an ice dam.
Why it gets skipped
It is invisible, it is not on the brochure, and it makes a quote look more expensive next to one without it. It is also, hour for hour, the cheapest way to make the next roof reach its rated life.
What to ask
What is there now, what should be there, and what is being changed. If the answer to the third question is nothing, ask why not.
Get the roof looked at
Free, no obligation, and your details go to no company until you say yes.
